The Deweydog's Team

I have always had a huge love for dogs and wanted to care for them in whatever way I could. I thought, what would be better than getting to hang out with dogs everyday for the rest of my life? Nothing can beat that! Dewey and I built this kennel from the ground up, with the help of neighbors and friends along the way. Dewey has since passed but his little sister Daphne now helps me run the place. I am passionate about taking great care of our customers (dogs and owners) and treating them as if they were my own family. In my free time I like to hunt and fish with my crazy girl Daphne.

I have been involved in the dog care world since I was a kid with our family dogs, but really began my journey into this field in 2021 working part-time at Deweydog’s. I quickly fell in love with not only the dogs and customers, but the busy and joyful atmosphere here. I have learned so much about pet care and leadership which helped me transition into my role as manager in 2022. I have had the opportunity to enhance my leadership, management and client relations skills which has helped me in earning my degree at Portland State University in Business Management and Leadership. If I had the opportunity to take every block-headed and chunky Labrador home with me I would do it in a heartbeat! On my days off I like to spend time with my boyfriend, skiing, hunting, traveling and hanging out with dogs, as if I don’t do that enough!

I have been a dedicated pet care provider since 2013 caring for all types of dogs as well as other animals like cats, bunnies, pigs, etc. My passion for animals, especially cats and golden retrievers has always driven me to provide the best care possible. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience and honed my skills to ensure that every pet I work with receives the love and attention they deserve. I have three cats of my own, Daphne, Juniper and Lucille. Outside of work, I love to spend my time kayaking, organizing and listening to true crime podcasts. I’m so thankful I get to live out my childhood dream of caring for animals as a career.

I can’t remember a time where dogs weren’t a part of my life. Although I am a cat mom, dogs hold the biggest place in my heart and getting to be part of the Deweydog’s family is so special. Not having a dog of my own anymore, I love getting to be surrounded by them at my work as well as getting to meet their owners. There’s so many fun personalities throughout the dogs here which makes work exciting and different every day. There’s a few too many to choose from but if I had to pick a favorite breed, it would probably be bernese mountain dogs! I also work with young kids at my other job which has taught me patience which comes in very handy with the dogs! In my free time I like to go to the movies, thrifting and playing with my cat Rocket.

With over a decade of experience in the dog care industry and a certificate in veterinary assisting, I’m thrilled to bring my lifelong passion for dogs to Deweydogs. Since childhood, I’ve known I wanted to work with dogs, and that dedication continues to fuel my work every day. My two kids and I love visiting Deweydog's even on our days off, and our little dog, Lego, is a cherished part of the team. Having owned dogs all my life, I have a special fondness for Border Collies, Collies, and Anatolian Shepherds. Outside of work, I enjoy drawing and painting, particularly portraits of pets, which lets me combine my love for animals with my creative side. For me, working here isn’t just a job—it’s a joyful lifestyle!

Ever since I can remember, there has always been a large pack of dogs in my house. It is what makes it a home! Right now my little crew consists of two tiny but mighty dogs Sadie and Mocha, a cat named Kitty, and Athena my bald python. Nothing made me feel closer to them than taking care of all their needs. At Deweydog’s I get to build personal relationships with all the dogs that come through and love them like my own! When I'm not working here, I help run a booth at the PSU farmers market where I get to meet even more amazing pups. On my days off I spend time out in the sun or baking fun new treats for people and animals! There's not a dog breed I don't like, but I do have a soft spot for sassy dachshunds as well as Great Pyrenees!  

I've been immersed in the pet care world since 2019, driven by my passion for animals and their well being. My background includes hands-on experience from living and working on a family farm where I have gotten the opportunity to care for pigs, goats and chickens. From working on my family farm I have gained a vast array of knowledge that most people may not get the chance to learn. As well as in 2019 I spent a year in New Zealand working on a dairy farm, an alpaca and llama farm and caring for livestock. I graduated from Portland State University in 2023 with a degree in Environmental Science. When I am not working I enjoy sewing, crocheting and caring for my two dogs Rennie & Lou. 

Meet Bailey, a happy, opinionated, and independent silver Labrador Retriever who was born back in 2020. She comes with Katelyn to daycare almost everyday of the week and boards with us when her parents go out of town. Bailey fully believes she runs the kennel, always telling everyone what to do and searching for anything suspicious (treats). She is a sweet girl who loves to introduce herself to everyone that comes in. She spends a lot of her day wandering around our front yard sniffing and sun bathing in our handicap parking spot. One of her favorite hobbies is chewing on sticks or going to the beach where she can run on the sand and dig! Her favorite food is whatever is in her mouth!

Meet Daphne, a highly motivated, quick thinking and busy ticked German Shorthaired Pointer who was born back in 2019. She belongs to our owner David and spends almost 100% of her time with him. They are joint at the hip! Daphne believes everyone is her best friend and anyone who comes to the kennel is there to see her. We are convinced that she would go home with anyone who opens their car door. She is as wild as they come and busy busy busy running 6 or so miles daily. Daphne loves to go hunting and fishing with her dad but likes to curl up in her cozy bed each night. One of her favorite hobbies is riding on the tractor with her dad and her favorite food is anything edible!

Meet Ren and Lou!

 Lou was born back in 2018 and is a Heinz 57 mix (her breed makeup includes Pug, German Shepherd, and Poodle!) who loves coming in to work at Deweydog's and hanging out with the group! She is an expert at cleaning up any stray pieces of kibble and running laps around our big rubber play room. 

Ren was board back in 2022 and is a Chihuahua mix adopted from the streets of Guadalajara, Mexico. Though she only weighs about 12 pounds, she is not afraid to make space for herself among the big dogs, but would usually prefer to nap the day away on the couch. Her talents include jumping up to three feet vertically and rodent hunting.

Meet Lego, the spirited Corgi mix born back in 2013 and who was adopted from the streets of California in 2015. Named after Legolas from *The Lord of the Rings*, Lego lives up to his namesake with boundless energy and an adventurous spirit. He’s an expert at hunting squirrels and rats, and his love for cats and Golden Retrievers is well-known by his family and friends. Lego has a keen knack for correcting bad behaviors in other dogs and is quite the talker, often howling and chattering away. His absolute favorite day of the year is the Hillsboro Airshow, where he delights in chasing the planes. With his vibrant personality and endless enthusiasm, Lego is truly a beloved member of our team.
